Our mission

The Cranberry exists to provide adventure-seeking travelers and WVU supporters with a distinctive lodging experience that captures the authentic spirit of West Virginia with a touch of Hawaiian warmth. Hawaiian, you ask? Our owner Brendan spent many years living in Hawaii and his lovely wife Maria is a Hawaii native. Brendan, Maria and their family bring the best of both worlds to the Cranberry (and Tropics Restaurant) where hospitality and care is in our DNA. We want you to have the very best stay possible and we want you to enjoy yourselves.  So please, don’t be a stranger—please let us know how we can make your stay a truly perfect one.

ABOUT THE CRANBERRY

Nestled along the scenic shores of Cheat Lake in Morgantown, West Virginia, The Cranberry offers a refreshing alternative to conventional lodging. As a boutique property within the Ascend Hotel Collection, we blend contemporary rustic design with authentic mountain hospitality to create a uniquely local experience.

Located just off I-68 at the intersection with Highway 43, our hotel serves as the perfect base camp for your West Virginia adventures. Whether you’re visiting for business, attending a WVU Mountaineer game, exploring the natural beauty of Coopers Rock State Forest, or Cheat Lake, or attending the fun-filled WVU graduation, The Cranberry provides a welcoming retreat where you can unwind and recharge.

Our spacious, modern guest rooms feature thoughtful amenities designed to help you feel connected to the natural beauty of Monongalia County. From our location within the Cheat Lake golf community to our proximity to championship courses, hiking trails, and the Monongahela River, we offer convenient access to all that makes West Virginia “Almost Heaven.”

Everyone from the time we checked in until our checkout were very polite. Wonderful staff. The breakfast was delicious as well and the lady who prepared it was wonderful! Thank you for an enjoyable stay!
